Lagoons need to be pumped out when solids have accumulated to a level where it is not able to receive the waste or discharge effluent properly.

Sometimes, homeowners have allowed too many trees to surround the lagoon, which limits air flow and the proper functioning of the lagoon. This also allows an excess of leaves and tree limbs to get into the lagoon, causing additional problems.

There are also times when the banks of the lagoon have eroded. In cases like this, pumping is required so that maintenance work on the bank can be accomplished.
